How The Reupholstery
Process works

To kick off the reupholstery process, first you will need to contact us, and we’ll start by asking you a few simple questions – about the piece, the style, your décor and your needs. Your answers enable us to advise you on the most appropriate fabrics and options. Here are the steps we take to ensure the best results:

Your quote will be based on the information you provide and the options you select. When the order is finalized, we send the fabric and clear instructions on what is to be done to the workroom.

You will receive a call from our workroom once they have received the fabric and are ready to work on your furniture. Generally, they will arrange to pick furniture up at your home, although smaller pieces such as dining chairs and ottomans can sometimes be brought into the store.

The workroom will compare the work order details to the actual piece of furniture. In some instances, the workroom can visually examine the piece and make recommendations based on that inspection. In other cases, the old covering and decking are removed, then the piece is examined and the spring work is inspected.

The workroom determines if any of the following are recommended, and if there will be any additional charges for this work:

  • Additional padding to the framework
  • Webbing and/or support materials added or replaced
  • Tightening and/or retying of existing spring work
  • Touch-up to exposed wood
  • Frame reinforcement

Remember! Furniture to be reupholstered can be shown to an in-home consultant during an in-home appointment.

Tips to speed up the
reupholstery process

  • Take photos of the furniture to be reupholstered, including views of the design details and each side of the piece. Cell phone photos are fine. You can bring it to the design shop or send it to the design shop via email.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

(Does it squeak or creak, do the cushions sag, are hard edges felt through the fabric at the corners, or is the framework wobbly?)

  • Take photos of the room where the reupholstered piece will be used, so we can assist you with your fabric and design choices.
  • Let us know the details you would like to maintain and those you wish to change. For example:
  • A different style skirt or skirt length, or even removing the skirt
  • Add or remove nail heads or double welting
  • Change the style of the cushion covers (add or remove welting, change to saddle stitching, etc.)
  • Thicker/thinner, softer/firmer cushions
  • Remove tufting or channels
